Our Story
From Waste to Wonder
You may have tasted chocolate, but have you seen cocoa shells? While the chocolate industry thrives, it generates massive amounts of leftover shells, creating a disposal crisis.
Scale
Southern Taiwan produces over 2,000 metric tons of cocoa shells annually—equivalent to the weight of 2,000 African buffalos.
Waste
Only 20% of the cocoa fruit (pulp and seeds) is processed. The remaining 80% is shell waste.
Problem
Traditional disposal methods like incineration cause air pollution, while piles of cacao husks trap water, breeding mosquitoes and increasing Dengue fever risks.
Technological Breakthrough
Initially, we attempted "Carbonization," but due to carbon emission concerns, our R&D team leveraged the high water content of the shells to develop a patented "Fermentation & Hydrolysis Technology". This process extracts the essence into masterbatches, successfully creating the eco-friendly SECAO® cocoa yarn.
